The North Coast Knife Club can boast a number of renowned knifemakers in their ranks.
To keep to our commitment of raising the profiles of our local talent, KZNknifemakers is running a competition within the club for a “knife of the month” or KOTM for short. Every member has the opportunity to submit one or more of their works to their peers and the Kznknifemakers community each calendar month.
The winner will have their work featured as that WhatsApp group profile pic, the club’s Facebook group header image, and of course on the kznknifemakers.co.za website for the month. All the monthly winners will be in the running for the Knife of the Year accolade.
We had a number of great submissions from the makers in April 2021 to choose from but there can only be one winner. That winner was Rudi K Muller with his stainless damascus (Balbachdamast) Sujihiki knife. The long, narrow, graceful blade of the Sujihiki is particularly useful for trimming away sinew and fat from meat, finely slicing meat or boneless fish, or for filleting and skinning fish.
